Cable Arch – Short Hike, Big Views, and a Rappel
Tucked into the cliffs above Kane Creek, Cable Arch (also called Funnel Arch) is a hidden gem offering a short but adventurous hike capped off with an unforgettable rappel directly off the arch itself. This family-friendly trip is perfect for those looking for a short outing that still delivers incredible scenery, hands-on rappelling, and a true canyoneering experience close to Moab.
Starting from a small trailhead off Kane Creek Boulevard, we'll ascend a sandstone hillside using natural drainages and ledges. The hike includes a few sections of light scrambling (easy 4th to low 5th class climbing) where your guide will assist to ensure a safe and fun ascent.
Once we reach Cable Arch, you'll have time to take in the incredible views before gearing up for the grand finale — a thrilling rappel off the arch itself, descending into the desert amphitheater below.
This short, action-packed tour offers big adventure in a small time frame, making it a perfect choice for families, beginners, or anyone with a spirit for exploration.
